Bridgwater officially kicked off its 2025 event season with a vibrant celebration of flavour, fun, and community spirit at the Bridgwater Food and Drink Festival, held on Saturday, 19 April. Despite grey skies and a damp start, the weather didn’t put a damper on the day—by midday, the sun broke through and the crowds poured in, creating a warm and lively atmosphere that truly brought the town to life.
As the first major event of the year, the festival didn’t disappoint. With over 3,000 people in attendance, the streets were buzzing with activity, delicious smells, and the sounds of live music and cheerful chatter. Visitors of all ages came out in full force to enjoy what the South West does best—exceptional food, handcrafted drinks, and a strong sense of community.
A Celebration of Local Flavour
The festival featured an exciting mix of local traders, food stalls, and producers offering a diverse range of delights. From gourmet burgers and artisan cheeses to indulgent cakes, handmade bakes, and flavour-packed sauces, there was no shortage of tasty options. Many vendors reported selling out before the day was done, thanks to the enthusiastic support from festival-goers.
Independent makers also had their moment to shine, with beautifully crafted goods on display including candles, homewares, preserves, and other giftable goodies. The event provided a valuable platform for small businesses to showcase their offerings and connect directly with the public.
Entertainment and Atmosphere
Beyond the food and drink, live entertainment kept the good vibes going throughout the day. Local musicians took to the stage, setting the tone with upbeat sets that had people dancing in the streets. Families made the most of the day with children’s activities, street performers, and a friendly, relaxed vibe that made it easy to stay and soak it all in.
Looking Ahead
If you missed April’s event, don’t worry—the next Bridgwater Food and Drink Festival is just around the corner on 14 June. With momentum building and word spreading, it’s expected to be even bigger and better.
